CINICALC Tool

Cinicalc is an independent calculation tool that is available through CINI. The following calculations can be performed:

– Economic insulation thickness
– Energy loss from non-insulated systems
– Energy loss from insulated systems
– Temperature gradient in systems with running or stationary product

The amount of CO2 emissions is also defined when calculating the energy loss.

When calculating the economic insulation thickness, the costs for both insulation materials and assembly, maintenance and ‘energy losses’ of the insulation system are taken into account.

These costs are project-dependent and must be entered by the user himself, taking the local conditions into account.

Independent

Cinicalc is an independent calculation tool. There is no preference for insulation material from certain brands or manufacturers.

The insulation materials can be selected by the users from the CINI guidelines or owner / company specifications; the thermal conductivity of these materials should be tested in accordance with EN 12667. For this purpose, the calculation tool has a database with the most common insulation materials.

Other insulation materials can be added to the database, including associated material properties.

Stable and reliable

The calculation tool has been on the market since 2008 and tested/used by leading industrial companies such as Total Refinery France and major contractors such as Prezioso and Elit. Engineering companies (including Toyo Engineering, Hyundai Engineering, Thyssen-Krüpp) and distributors (Asbipro distribution, SIG central services) are using successfully this calculation tool for many years.

Every year, the calculation tool is improved and expanded. The needs and requirements of (potential) users are decisive for the annual adjustments. That results in the strengths of Cinicalc, as the software is stable and up-to-date and calculations are reliable. The program guides you through the import rules with explanatory texts, as a digital help file is included.

All Cinicalc calculations are based on the international standards, such as ISO 12241 for the calculation of the insulation thickness and ISO 23993 for the conversion factor. To determine the degree of cooling-down by convection, the user can choose between the ISO standards and the VDI 2055 calculation method.

Cinicalc can display material properties, such as thermal conductivity, in graphs. The insulation thicknesses can be displayed in tables, with the relation between pipe diameter and process temperature. This provides an easy to read overview, with the relation to the insulation thicknesses to be applied for a project.

The calculation tool software can be installed on a PC or laptop. Online access will be available in the future.
